The Cambridge Veterans Club runs a ‘veterans’ shed’ at Brown’s Field Community Centre, where you can access tools and equipment while making new friends.
The club has a range of hand, power and bench tools. When you join and sign the waiver, they will assess what training you need to use the tools.
The shed is currently open to veterans on Monday mornings and some Wednesday afternoons. The club asks for a cash donation of £3 per session to help cover its costs, to be paid on arrival.
- Mondays, 10.30am to 12.30pm
- Some Wednesdays, 1.30 to 3.30pm
Follow the Cambridge Veterans Club group on Facebook for more details and to check opening sessions.
The club plans to open the shed to the public when it has enough members to staff it.
The club also plans to run skill-sharing sessions to teach basic DIY skills for example, changing a tap washer or wiring a plug.
We have helped to set up the shed as part of our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant and our equalities work to support communities.
