Shaping Coleridge

We are taking a new approach to finding out what people think about proposals for their neighbourhoods. It will help us work together to develop plans that work for local people.

We’re holding the first Shaping Coleridge meeting on 11 December. If you live in Coleridge or your organisation is based there, we hope you will join us. Find out more below.

New housing

We are planning to redevelop two existing housing estates in Coleridge.

On Fanshawe Road, we are replacing 30 outdated council homes with 84 new energy efficient homes. We will install a green space, a small play area, and community food growing planters. With plans approved, work began in November 2024. To find out more or contact the project team, email fanshaweroad@cambridge.gov.uk.

On Davy Road, we propose to replace 42 outdated council homes with new council homes and market homes. Preliminary design work has begun, and we will consult you about the plans in spring 2025. To find out more or contact the project team, email davy.road@cambridge.gov.uk.

Other developers are working on proposals for further regeneration in and around Coleridge. This includes the land south of Coldham’s Lane.

Local improvement projects

As well as the plans listed above, we have already been:

  • planting trees on streets and in open spaces
  • creating a new pocket park near Rustat Road
  • installing new wildflower meadows, bee hotels and more on Coleridge recreation ground with funding from our Environmental Improvement Programme
  • improving local sports and recreation facilities, including installing a new outdoor fitness area

Public events

The first Shaping Coleridge meeting is on 11 December, from 5.30 to 8pm at Coleridge Community College’s Radegund Hall. Please contact us if you want to attend, so we have an idea of how many people will be there.

We will share information about current plans for the area, including:

  • redeveloping council housing on Davy Road and Fanshawe Road
  • play, sport and recreation opportunities
  • potential improvements to Coleridge recreation ground and new pocket parks
  • tree planting and environmental improvements

You will be able to discuss your ideas or concerns with council officers and other attendees. Over the course of the Shaping Coleridge project, you will have the chance to influence the plans.
