Scrutinising our housing services

Contents

We believe transparency helps build trust between us and you, our tenants. We try to provide clear information about our housing service, performance and decision-making.

Tenant and leaseholder representatives

Six elected resident representatives help influence how we run our housing service. Their contribution ensures your experience is at the forefront of all decisions we make that impact you.

Five of the representatives are council tenants, and one is a leaseholder. There is currently a vacancy for a tenant representative.

Contact the representatives at hsc.residents@gmail.com if you have any questions, feedback or concerns.

The current representatives are:

  • Diane Best (leaseholder)
  • Diana Minns (tenant)
  • Isabella-Jowita Miszk (tenant)
  • Mandy Powell-Hardy (tenant)
  • Renata Wais (tenant)

Elections for representatives take place every four years. The next one is due to take place in 2028. We commission an independent organisation to send a ballot paper to all tenants and leaseholders.

Representatives can claim an annual allowance of up to £1,400 each, depending on how much time they give to the role.

Meetings

These meetings allow tenants and leaseholders to scrutinise their housing services.

Housing Advisory Board

The Housing Advisory Board is the main forum for council tenants and leaseholders to discuss our housing service with us.

The board provides advice, recommendations and feedback to help us improve our housing service. It supports our decision-making process and monitors our performance.

The board meets five times each year. We publish papers from the board meetings, including agendas and minutes.

Resident, Officer, Asset and Maintenance meeting

The Resident, Officer, Asset and Maintenance meeting helps tenants and leaseholders hold our repairs and maintenance service to account. It is sometimes referred to as Roam.

The meeting is led by a panel of tenants and council officers. It gives tenants the chance to check and question the quality of our housing services.

It meets every three months. All tenants and leaseholders are welcome to attend - contact us if you want to attend a meeting.

At meetings, we:

Estate Services Contractors Meeting

This quarterly meeting enables tenants and leaseholders to meet the contractors who maintain our estates, allowing them to scrutinise the service they receive and hold them to account.

Residents can share their concerns and suggest improvements. The contractors share news about service updates, planned changes, and performance.

The agenda also often includes updates about:
