The following applications were considered at the meeting of Cambridge City Council’s Planning Committee, held on Wednesday 7 January 2026 at the Guildhall, Cambridge.  

  • To knock down the metal-clad single-storey building at 5 Pound Hill, Castle, and build a new extension, similar in appearance, to create a new community entrance and office/meeting spaces. Also to install accessible ramped and stepped access from Pound Hill. 
    Applicant: Yuci Gou
    Decision: Refused

  • To increase the opening hours for McDonalds on Newmarket Road, Abbey, from 7am – 11pm to 6am – 11pm.
    Applicant: McDonald's Restaurants Limited
    Decision: Refused

  • To knock down the Synagogue and Jewish Community facility at 3 Thompsons Lane, Market, and replace with a new Synagogue and Jewish Community facility including parking spaces and cycle storage.
    Applicant: c/o Agent Peter McKeown – Carter Jonas 
    Decision: Approved
