Unauthorised encampment at Arbury Town Park

22 May 2024

Update 23 May: The encampment has now left Arbury Town Park. Waste left at the site by has been removed by our team.

22 May

Last week we issued a Section 77 notice requiring the people at the unauthorised encampment to leave Arbury Town Park by Sunday at 5pm.

As they did not leave, we applied for a court hearing to ask for an order to move the encampment on. A hearing was scheduled for Friday 24 May.

If the court grants an order it means the people at an encampment must leave within 24 hours.

We recognise that local residents may have concerns and we encourage them to report any antisocial behaviour by calling the police on 101 or logging details via the police website.

This information is recorded by the police in one place and enables them to take appropriate action.

Last week council officers visited the encampment to carry out a welfare assessment to understand the needs of the people there relating to a range of services.

Further information on how the council handles unauthorised encampments including its legal obligations and practical steps it must take is available on our dedicated web pages
