Cllr Mark Ashton, Mayor of Cambridge, said: “We have all been shocked and saddened by the terrible devastation caused by the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria.

“Our thoughts are with the Turkish and Syrian people and all those who are working so hard as part of the emergency response.

“There will be people in Cambridge who have family or friends directly affected by the earthquake and many more who may wish to offer help and support. I would encourage people to consider making donations of through the official campaigns being run by Disasters Emergency Committee, British Red Cross, Médecins Sans Frontières, Oxfam GB or The White Helmets”
