Hobbs Pavilion is on Parker’s Piece in the centre of Cambridge.
The pavilion has a community room that you can book for events and activities. The room has a kitchen, a disabled toilet and free wifi.
The pavilion is also home to local cricket teams who play on Parker’s Piece during the summer. It has a cricket pitch that you can hire, with two changing rooms.
The community room and changing rooms are accessible via a lift. There is a portable hearing loop.
Opening hours
The pavilion will only open for reserved sessions – you cannot drop in to use the community room. The room is available to hire at the following times:
- Monday to Friday: 9am to 10pm
- Saturday and Sunday: 9am to 7pm
Public-use room
The community room is 54m2, and the kitchen is 12m2.
Tables and chairs are available indoors and outside for meetings and events. The community room has a large TV with HDMI connections.
The kitchen has a hot-water dispenser and enough cutlery, crockery and utensils for about 25 people.
Cricket pitches and changing rooms
The cricket pitch is available to hire from May to September.
Hiring the room and pitch
The community room and pitch is available for hire during the day and evening on weekdays, and on weekends outside the cricket season.
Weekend use during the cricket season (usually May to September) is limited. Several local cricket clubs have precedence on weekend bookings to accommodate their home matches.
You can hire the community room with or without the pitch and changing rooms, and vice versa.
Check our online booking system to see the community room’s availability and book it for your event. Email us to discuss booking the pavilion outside its normal opening hours.
Contact ParksidePools@gll.org to book the cricket pitch. You can have access to the two team changing rooms and the umpire’s room with a shower when you book the pitch.
Public transport and parking
We encourage visitors to travel sustainably whenever possible.
There are many cycle racks outside and near the pavilion.
The nearest bus stops are on Drummer Street and Regent Street. Visit Traveline for public transport timetables.
Queen Anne Terrace car park is across Parker’s Piece from the pavilion. There is some on-street parking on Park Terrace. Parking there costs 50p per 20 minutes and is limited to a two-hour stay with no return within four hours.
