Abbey Youth Cabin in northeast Cambridge is a dedicated space for clubs and activities for young people.

The cabin hosts regular and one-off youth groups and activities. You can hire it to host your youth club, activity or project for young people aged eight to 24.

It’s on the Abbey Leisure Complex site, near the artificial pitch south of the swimming pool. You can access it through the yellow barrier from the main car park. If you’re arriving across Coldham’s Common, turn left onto Pool Way.

The cabin only opens for reserved sessions – it is not a drop-in centre, and no staff are based there.

Facilities

Abbey Youth Cabin has a main community room of 40m2 and a small meeting room. It can accommodate up to 24 people per session, including those running it.

There is a large TV with HDMI connections in the community room, and wifi throughout.

There are tables and chairs for up to 20 people, which can be used in either room or folded and stacked if not needed.

The cabin also has an accessible toilet and a small kitchen. The kitchen has a microwave, kettle and toaster, and cutlery and crockery for 25 people.

Hiring the cabin

You can only hire Abbey Youth Cabin to host a club, activity or project for young people aged eight to 24. We do not currently hire the cabin for birthday parties.

The cabin is available at the following times:

  • Monday to Friday: 7am to 9pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: 8am to 5pm

To request hiring the cabin, check the calendar to see whether it is available when you want to use it. Select the + icon on your preferred date to open the request form. Please make sure to tell us what your booking is for.

When we receive your request, we will contact you to arrange payment, and to ask for further details if we need them. If necessary, we will request safeguarding documentation to help ensure the participants’ safety.

When we have confirmed your booking, we will send you details of how to access the cabin.

Public transport and parking

The number 3 bus stops on Stanesfield Road, a few minutes’ walk from Abbey Leisure Complex.

The complex has racks for over 70 cycles, and free car parking including six disabled spaces.
