Wellbeing Walks is a developing programme of short, friendly group walks that can help you become and stay active.
The walks are led by trained volunteers. They are free to join, and everybody is welcome. Each walk will be different in length and may be more suited to some than others.
The programme has been developed with the support of the Ramblers and in partnership with local community groups and organisations.
Join a walk
North and east Cambridge
The following walk is held and led by the Social Prescribing Link workers and health and wellbeing coaches from Nuffield Road Surgery:
- First Wednesday of the month
- 2pm from Nuffield Road Surgery, Nuffield Road (CB4 1GL)
- Contact Sofia at cpicb.nrmcpatients@nhs.net for more information
You do not have to be registered at any particular surgery to attend these walks.
South Cambridge
Trumpington wellbeing walk
- Fridays at 11am from Trumpington Park and Ride (CB2 9FT)
- Meeting point: The kiosk
This walk ranges from 50 to 70 minutes long.
It can be adapted to be a path walk, so that those using walking aids and pushchairs can join. However, if nobody with those needs is present, the walk will go through local woods and along the river. Suitable footwear is required for muddy paths.
There is a refreshment stop at the end of the walk as it passes the Trumpington Meadows community space. The café inside operates on a donation basis.
Please contact foundation@cambridgeunited.com for more details. It is recommended that you email first prior to attending.
Booking a walk
You do not need to book in advance for any wellbeing walk. However, some walks are available to pre-book via Bookwhen.
Booking in advance will provide you with more information on meeting locations, and will also enable us to contact you should a last-minute cancellation take place.
Other walking opportunities
We have set up tree trails to celebrate and promote our local trees. The trails, at Cherry Hinton Hall and at the Accordia site off Brooklands Avenue, are about 1.5km long.
Visit the Ramblers website to find out more about wellbeing walks around Cambridge and further afield.
Mental Health Mates is a network of peer support groups, run by people who experience their own mental health issues. They meet regularly to walk, connect and share without fear or judgement.
Volunteer to lead a walk
We rely on volunteers to lead and support walks in the local area.
Please contact us if you’re passionate about supporting people to get active and could offer some time. We’ll provide free training and support.
