Safeguarding Policy

Our safeguarding policy sets out how we work to protect children, young people and adults who may be at risk of harm.

Safeguarding means taking steps to make sure people are safe, treated with dignity and respect, and protected from abuse, neglect or exploitation.

This includes physical, emotional, sexual and financial abuse, as well as neglect, domestic abuse and modern slavery.

Everyone has the right to feel safe in their community, and our policy explains how we take that responsibility seriously.

The policy explains what we expect of our staff, councillors, volunteers and anyone working on our behalf, and how we identify, report and act on concerns. It also outlines how we work closely with partner organisations such as social care, the NHS and the police to make sure people get the right help at the right time.

If you are worried that someone is in immediate danger or at risk of serious harm, you should contact the emergency services straight away by calling 999.

If the situation is not an emergency but you are concerned about the safety or wellbeing of a child or an adult, you can report your concern to us using the contact details provided in the policy.

You do not need proof or certainty to raise a concern – sharing your worries could help someone get the support and protection they need.
