This course takes place online — you will undertake the learning and exam remotely. We do not currently offer in-person training for this award.
If your business sells alcohol, you must have a designated premises supervisor who has a personal licence. One requirement for obtaining this licence is that you hold a recognised qualification.
We are accredited by Highfield to deliver the Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders. Other training providers are available — you do not have to use our service.
The course is for businesses owners, managers and supervisors who will authorise the sale of alcohol. It is also suitable for people who want to refresh or update their knowledge.

Course delivery
When you enrol, we will give you access to Highfield's online training system.
You can progress through the course at your own pace, and test your knowledge with a mock exam. We will assign an experienced licensing officer as your tutor. Support will also be available from Highfield.
When you have completed all components of the training you will be able to take the exam. Your tutor will arrange this when you are ready.
The test has 40 multiple-choice questions, which you must answer under exam conditions [PDF, 0.9MB]. You must answer at least 28 of the questions correctly to pass.
Entry requirements
There are no formal entry requirements, but you’ll need a good understanding of English and maths.
If English is not your first language, we recommend you have achieved Level B2 on the CEFR scale, or an equivalent level.

Enrol
The training costs £103 per person. This includes all registration and examination fees.
It will take up to five working days to process your application. Contact us if you have not heard from us after this time.

We’ll share your information with the accrediting organisation, Highfield. You will also need to share some with Eventbrite when you enrol. Both will handle your data according to their privacy policies.
