The following applications were considered at the meeting of Cambridge City Council’s Planning Committee, held on Wednesday 7 October 2026 at the Guildhall, Cambridge. 

Major applications

  • To redevelop Ekin Road in Abbey by knocking down the 108 existing homes and building 134 new homes.
    Applicant: Cambridge Investment Partnership 
    Decision: Approved
  • To knock down Christs College Library in Market and build a new, contemporary library including social and study space. Further work also includes replacing the bridge to the Bodley Library.
    Applicant: Lord Simon McDonald
    Decision: Approved

Minor applications

  • Temporarily change the use of the land for 23 to 27 Kings Hedges Road to build 5 modular homes in the back garden.
    Applicant: Cambridge Cyrenians Ltd
    Decision: Approved
  • Change the use of the 6-bedroom house in multiple occupation (HMO) at 40 Barton Road into a 7-bedroom HMO.
    Applicant: Wolfson College
    Decision: Approved
