Referendum in the South Newnham area on 16 January 2025
A neighbourhood planning referendum took place on Thursday 16 January, for some electors in the South Newnham area.
The result of the referendum was that a majority of voters were in favour of Cambridge City Council using the South Newnham Neighbourhood Plan to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.
Look at a list of the roads that are included in the South Newnham Neighbourhood Area [PDF, 81Kb]. You can also look at a map of the area [PDF, 1.5MB].
There was one polling station, located at St Mark’s Church, Barton Road, Cambridge CB3 9JZ.
Electors already registered to vote do not need to re-register. The voting franchise for the referendum is the same as for a local election:
- British and Irish citizens
- Commonwealth citizens who have permission to enter or stay in the UK, or do not need permission
- Citizens of Denmark, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal and Spain
- Citizens of other EU countries can register and vote if they have been legally resident in the UK since 31 December 2020 and this has continued without a break
