Building Control

About Cambridge City Building Control Service

Building Control ensure that all newly erected, extended and altered buildings in Cambridge meet building regulation requirements; and are constructed to a standard that protects people's health, safety, welfare and convenience.

We receive approximately 1,000 building regulations applications and carry out 8,000 site inspections per year. Projects range from internal alterations to private dwellings, to multi-million pound commercial developments.

The section operates under the Head of Building Control, and consists of two area teams (North and South) and a Special Projects Principal who coordinates major projects and partnership schemes.
