Race equality scheme
Cambridge City Council has drafted a new race equality scheme (RES). This is our plan for how we are going to tackle race equality issues in Cambridge as a service provider, as an employer and as a community leader.
Our RES aims to run for two years, by which time we anticipate we may be asked to incorporate these actions into a Single Equality Scheme that covers all equality strands: race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, age and religion/belief.
Our RES is now out for consultation and is due to go through the Council's decision making procedures by November 2008.
If you have any comments on our draft RES that you wish to make, please contact Leila Redfearn by email at leila.redfearn@cambridge.gov.uk, or by telephone on 01223 457060 by no later than 26th September 2008.
Cambridge City Council aims to:
- promote equality and human rights
- challenge and eradicate prejudice and discrimination
- respect, value and celebrate diversity
- promote tolerance
- provide responsive, sensitive and accessible services and information
- ensure our workforce reflects the diverse population of Cambridge
- develop a positive, supportive and anti-discriminatory working environment for all staff
- carry out an annual review of equalities and diversity at work
