CB1 STATION AREA REDEVELOPMENT

Revised plans for the CB1 development were submitted in mid July. The most significant change to the proposals in these revised plans is the opening up of the Northern Access Road to traffic to serve the multi storey car park and new Station Square.  Further information has also been submitted to justify the removal of historic buildngs.

The Ashwell project team presented the revised scheme to a public review meeting on 7 August 2008 in advance of the formal end of the consultation period for residents and other interested parties on 12 August 2008.

A number of letters have been received as a result of the City Council’s consultation exercise and a request has been made by Unex Technical Services for a Development Control Forum.  The Development Control Forum will be held on 3 September 2008 at The Centre at St Pauls, Hills Road.

Planning officers are currently reviewing the comments that have been received from interested parties and consultation responses.  Further work is needed on the Transport Assessment before the County Council is able to give its final comments on the scheme.  Negotiations have also commenced in relation to the ‘planning gain package’ which will address the demands placed by the development upon community infrastructure.

It is likely that a Special Planning Committee will be convened in October to consider the application.  All those people making written representations will be notified of the date of the Committee meeting.
