If you need adaptations such as grab rails and second banister rails made to your house, help is available

The Home Aid service can help older people or people with disabilities by adapting their properties to help them live independently.

For example, if you need grab rails, lever taps, half steps or a second banister rail, you can ask for these directly from your area office.

However, larger adaptations such as installing a ramp to your door, a stairlift or a level-access shower may need a referral from an occupational therapist.
