We take our responsibility to stop benefit fraud seriously, and adopt an approach that includes prevention, detection and, when appropriate, punishment.
If you know of anyone claiming benefit that they are not entitled to receive you can:
- call our local confidential free 24 hour fraud hotline on 0800 328 0572
- call the national fraud hotline on 0800 854 440
- download and complete the fraud referral form and email it to fightfraud@cambridge.gov.uk.
- imprisonment ranging from 28 days to five months
- confiscation orders of up to £70,000
- community punishment orders of up to 200 hours
- community rehabilitation orders of up to two years
- curfew (tagging) orders of up to three months
